Hello,

I tried a few laps on the Torino track (looks great BTW) with the Merc, and I'm just wondering... how the heck am I supposed to use the brakes, so that they won't overheat?

There must be some technique or way to brake... use more engine to slow down the speed? Brake earlier, applying the brakes lightly, not pressing the pedal all the way down? Something else?

I need to try something and practise it a bit, otherwise I can't try racing with this mod...

My wife says I never listen.
Or something like that.

Hi Kari
Download and watch the replay from last season. That should give you an idea, but I am not an expert either.

Greetings, Marcel

ok, I didn't expect this.

I "can't" do both Tuesday & Sunday time-wise, generally speaking.
So what I'll probably do is "power through" doing both until 67s is over with the Summerbreak.
After that I'll probably have to pick either 55's or 69X's...
55s actually in favor over 69X unless there is continuous low number of participants. I'm not into "3-horse-races"; I seek interaction :) (if it were for me there could be 40 starters or more every race... :D )
We'll see....

I'll decide spontaneous tomorrow but that's the current train of thought...

Brake earlier.

Try not to leave your foot on the brake for more than a couple of seconds.
I normally brake - shift - brake - shift ...etc so there are gaps in the braking.

Use the engine braking as much as possible but beware of over revs on down shift.

Find a pace where you have brakes for the whole lap.

Hot laps will kill the brakes. OK for qualification where you only need one lap, but race pace needs to be more conservative.

So basically a different style of racing is required.
Overtakes can be harder because not only do you have to get close enough to overtake, but you also need brakes when you get there.

At first I thought the brake fade spoiled the mod, but now I think it is really neat historic feature that should totally be there.
Just takes some getting used too.

:)
To finish first, first you have to finish.
